And why I keep them prepped (and pretty) now.
When the power went out for 26 hours, I didn’t need a bunker.
I needed a flashlight that worked, juice for my phone, and snacks that didn’t require boiling water.
So no — this isn’t your typical survivalist checklist.
This is the stuff I actually needed… and what I now keep ready, always.
1. A Portable Power Bank That Actually Lasts
Not a cute $12 gas station charger. I’m talking a solar-backed, multi-port, keeps-the-tablet-alive kind of power bank. Bonus points if it’s compact enough to throw in your everyday bag.

2. A Flashlight That Lives Where I Can Find It
It took 20 minutes, two junk drawers, and a toddler meltdown to find one.
Now I keep at least one in each room, and I test the batteries once a month (with coffee).
3. Non-Chlorine Pool Shock
Wait, what? Yep. If your water gets gross and you need to sanitize in a pinch, this stuff is gold.
Works for pools and emergency disinfection. Cheap. Easy. Long shelf life.
4. A Go-Bag That Doesn’t Look Tactical
I’m not walking around in camo. But I do keep a neutral-toned backpack ready — stocked with:
- Backup snacks
- Chargers
- Wipes + meds
- A change of socks (ask me how I learned that one the hard way)
5. A Checklist That Doesn’t Stress Me Out
You don’t need 97 bins and a weather radio if you’re not that girl.
I keep my list short, calm, and easy to update.

Final Thoughts:
I prep because I like peace of mind — not because I think the end of the world is coming.
If you’re tired of fear-driven content and just want gear that works, I got you.
